Seven Irish restaurants have retained their Michelin Star status from previous years while two establishments in Galway and Dublin have been awarded their first Michelin Star. Loam in Galway and The Greenhouse in Dublin were added to the respected list in an announcement made on Wednesday.
Head chef and owner of Loam Enda McEvoy, formerly of Aniar in the city, revealed that the award has come as a shock considering the restaurant has only been open since 2014.
“Our whole vision for this place was to just make exciting food, get a clientele in the door and run a successful business,” said McEvoy.
“I think what we do is up to that standard but I wasn’t expecting this. We’ve only been open for about 20 minutes so things worked quickly.
“We still have a service tonight so it might be Saturday before we celebrate.
“I think it means things just get harder from here,” he said.
